San Jose Diridon Station is a major transit hub in the South Bay, with bus and train connections throughout the South Bay and California. The station is named after Rod Diridon, a former Santa Clara County Supervisor who is considered the "father" of the VTA light rail system.

Ticket machines are located by tunnel entrances to the platforms. Clipper Card readers are located in the outer lobby and inside the tunnel (none on the platform). Clipper Add Value machines are located in the outer lobby. Ticket counter in the main building does not sell Caltrain tickets.

This station features multiple center platforms. Use the tunnel to access the platforms. There are signs inside the tunnel showing the track for departing trains. However, trains may depart and arrive on any track. Check overhead signs or with conductors for train departures.

  • Most trains toward Tamien or Gilroy arrive on track 6.

Sharks games

Northbound train #197 (weekday) and #451 (Saturday) departing at 10:30 PM may be delayed until 10:45pm during Sharks game nights. Caltrain does not delay the departure for concerts at HP Pavilion.

Weekend connection to Tamien Station

On weekends and holidays, trains don't serve Tamien Station. Take a shuttle at the bus plaza to Tamien Station. A valid Caltrain ticket or pass is required for the shuttle.

Altamont Corridor Express trains serve this station during weekday peak hours only.

An ACE ticket agent is available in the outer lobby area 20 minutes before the departure of trains #4 (3:35pm) and #6 (4:35pm). Cash, credit cards, and vouchers are accepted. Passengers can buy tickets onboard with cash for other trains. An ACE 20-ride validator is located in the outer lobby. Trains generally depart on track 1 (the platform adjacent to the station building).

This station is served by Capitol Corridor and Coast Starlight trains, along with Thruway buses to Stockton and San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara.

Amtrak tickets are sold at the ticket counter in the main building, or via QuikTrak machines in the outer lobby. Checked baggage service is available for Coast Starlight and Thruway bus passengers at the ticket counter. Most Capitol Corridor trains to Sacramento/Auburn depart on track 1 or track 4. Listen to announcement or ask a station agent where to board the Coast Starlight. All Thruway buses stop at the bus plaza north of the building.

VTA Light Rail G platforms are located on the west side of the station by Cahill Park Drive. From the station building, use the pedestrian tunnel and walk all the way to the other end.

Ticket machines and Clipper Card readers are located on each light rail platform. Buy ticket or tag card before boarding. This station features side platforms.

Lines 22 and 522 stop on Santa Clara Street. All other buses stop at the bus plaza just north of the station building.

Highway 17 Express and MST 55 routes are timed to connect with Capitol Corridor trains and Thruway buses from Stockton. Buses may hold up to 10-15 minutes for late trains.

Greyhound stops in California SJO6 Service to Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco. Ticket sales is available at this location. Buy bus tickets from the Greyhound ticket machine inside the building. Board buses on street across Cahill in front of station. Current bus status

Companies like Ebay also provide private shuttles to the station.

Daily parking is available east of the station, accessible from Cahill St and Montgomery St. There's only one parking lot for the disabled and it is located between the station building and the corner of Cahill and San Fernando. Long term parking for Amtrak riders is also available.

Parking requires a $5 daily fee or a Caltrain monthly parking permit. To pay the daily parking fee, remember the stall number and pay at the Caltrain ticket machines located by the pedestrian tunnel to the platforms.

Amtrak long term parking

A lot located south of the station is reserved for Amtrak riders. A special permit from the Amtrak ticket office is required.

HP Pavilion events

Special rate (up to $30) is charged 2 hours prior to events at HP Pavilion. Parking fee is collected by attendants at parking lot entrances. Caltrain riders can tell the attendant that you're riding Caltrain and just pay the regular fee.

Nearby parking

A parking lot on the south side of San Fernando by Montgomery Street (Stephens Meat Products) is available to riders for a daily fee of $3. To pay for parking, remember the spot number and pay at one of the gray parking machines by San Fernando Street. Credit card is accepted for payment.

A parking lot one block south of the station (at 150 S Montgomery Street) is available to Caltrain riders for $35 a month. Call Standard Parking, the lot operator, at 408-293-6115 for information.

On Street parking near the station is available for $2 before 6:00pm. Remember the space number and pay at the nearby pay station.

Bike lockers and racks are located on the south side of the station building. There's no vacancy for bike lockers at this station.

Bay Wheels operates a self-service bike share station near the station.
