Caltrain is converting 10-ride tickets to 8-ride tickets to make the validation process more reliable. 10-ride tickets require the validators to cut-off a corner of the ticket, which is a cause for validators to malfunction. 8-ride tickets eliminate the need to cut-off a corner. 8-ride tickets offer the same per-ride discounts as 10-ride tickets.
