10-ride validator

Validator is used to validate each ride on a Caltrain 8-ride ticket. Just insert your ticket into the slot and your ride is validated for 4 hours. Validators are generally located near ticket vending machines.

You can validate a single 8-ride ticket multiple times if you have multiple riders in your party.

Caltrain converted 10-ride tickets to 8-ride tickets to make the validation process more reliable. 10-ride tickets required the validators to cut-off a corner of the ticket, which was a cause for validators to malfunction. 8-ride tickets eliminate the need to cut-off a corner. 8-ride tickets offer the same per-ride discounts as 10-ride tickets.

Non-working validators

When the validators are not working at your station, board the train and immediately look for a conductor to hand-validate your ticket. Do not wait until the conductor comes to you to validate your ticket.
